Discover The Best Bodybuilding Diet

Regular exercise is the most important bodybuilding requirement, but there are many others. Diet, for one, is incredibly important and may affect the quality of results you get regardless of how hard you exercise. Increasing your activity level only forces the body to adapt to the strenuous activities you perform on a day to day basis. It is important to note that muscles cannot grow without nutrients, so you must have a proper bodybuilding diet that will provide all the essential nutrients for muscle growth. The following are some foods you must eat during the bodybuilding program:

1. Animal Proteins

The most important food to eat during your bodybuilding program is proteins. These foods provide the body with amino acids, which are the basic building blocks for cells in your muscle tissue. The best source of proteins is red meat, but you can also eat white meat. Your lunches and dinner must have at least one of the following; steak, pork chops, chicken wings, fish, seafood, eggs or any other source of animal proteins. Ideally, you should alternate between animal proteins and plant proteins. For instance, if you have any of the above foods for lunch, be sure to have a meal packed with plant proteins for dinner.

2. Plant Proteins

Legumes are the best sources of plant proteins. Since these foods contain certain trace elements that animal proteins do not have, it is crucial you eat both animal and plant proteins. The best sources are: beans, peas, french beans, chickpeas, lima beans and kidney beans. As you can see, you have a wide range of options to choose from as far as legumes go.

3. Carbohydrates

Bodybuilding entails a lot of exercise, so you must have the energy needed to exercise. For this reason, the biggest food portion on your plate should be a carb. This can be bread, rice, a burger, cake, bun, boiled corn or cornmeal among others. Carbohydrates provide the calories needed to power the body.

4. Vitamins

The best sources of vitamins are fruits and vegetables. While vegetables are usually available all-year-round, most fruits are seasonal. You will find a half dozen different types of fruits in season at any given time. You can eat fruits whole or put them in a blender to make a smoothie. Be sure to add some greens to your plate as this can add color and flavor to your meals. For best results, be sure to also drink a glass of milk at least once a day.
